Glad you posted that. I am so tired of people saying how slicktops weigh hundreds less than an equivalent t-top car. Notice it is only the owners of them that say this however, lol. FWIW, Nissan quotes 33 lbs difference between slicktop and t-top cars - and in reality the difference if equally equipped is less than that (as t-top cars came with more standard options). Heck, I probably have 20 pounds of change in my car right now.The last time I weighed a Z32 was when taking some old monitors to the dump around 2005. The (NA) Z I had at the time was an automatic w. tops. I cannot remember exactly what it weighed on the way out...but in was in the low 3300's with everything - at least 1/2 tank of gas, a Polk C4 subbox, 5 channel amp, floor mats, spare, etc...and was a 90 (pre-airbag). I may even still have the printout...will look later. Bottom line, after a swap, a slicktop will weigh 20-33 lbs less than a t-top swapped car (of course). What I am saying is that you can likely find many posts on final conversion weights of other people's swaps...assuming they have actually been to a real scale and shared true documentation. All in all, the only major difference that I can see between the end product of your potential project and a true TT would be that the swapped car will not have HICAS...as most of the TT's supporting gear is only mildly heavier (stiffer suspension to compensate for weight, stronger drivertrain parts, wider rear wheels, etc). Additionally, if you swap all of that too (as most end up doing eventually anyway) you still basically have a TT w/o HICAS, weight wise. Add the typical cosmetic stuff (bigger wheels, body enhancements, stereo, etc) and any point of "weight watching" is long gone. This is one more reason I say to just buy a TT (even though it won't be a slicktop. But I realize this is more of my "old man talk" as I have never once been able to sit through a complete episode of one of those tuner-type TV shows...so I have no motovation to do something just because it's the trend...and would rather be driving than dreaming. But to each his own.
